Tegra 3 – Kai Tablets in sight, Nvidia unveils ‘Kai’ platform
Nvidia’s new $199 Tegra 3 Tablets are a dream no more for users on a low budget. The quad-core processor chewing beast is now being manufactured by Nvidia through the newly revealed ‘Kai’ Platform for Android Tablets. This will be a real turning point in the Android Tablets market, which should completely conquer iOS and other similar smartphone operating systems for Tablets. All this is mainly because of the extremely low price point set by Nvidia to cater economically to the masses. New Platform ‘Windows RT’ was also released along side the Nvidia ‘Kai’ Platform. They will boast a fully featured 7-inch display around the $249 price-point. HTC One X has already followed the Tegra 3 train while LG Optimus 4X HD is the next in line to be any tech-fiend’s next dream.
Nvidia’s CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang, had comments on these comments when compared to the Amazon Kindle Fire:
Our strategy on Android is simply to enable quad-core tablets running Android Ice Cream Sandwich to be developed and brought out to market at the $199 price point, and the way we do that is a platform we’ve developed called Kai. So this uses a lot of the secret sauce that’s inside Tegra 3 to allow you to develop a tablet at a much lower cost, by using a lot of innovation that we’ve developed to reduce the power that’s used by the display and use lower cost components within the tablet.
Will Nvidia’s new $199 Tablets take over the Tablets scene? What are your takes on this new turn of events?
