How the Blackberry Z10 fares against newer Android devices (and the latest prices)
Sales of Blackberry phones have been on the decline ever since the touchscreen revolution took over the smartphone market. The likes of Apple and Samsung were swift to latch on to the opportunity by bringing out some amazing smartphones with tons of features and stylish designs. But, RIM continued to bank on its QWERTY style phones, which in hindsight was a big mistake. However, the company is trying its best to mount a comeback with its latest set of handsets featuring the all-new Blackberry 10 operating system. As part of major rebranding process, the company has also ditched its name and will now be called Blackberry. Among the two phones which were unveiled at the Blackberry Experience event on January 30th, was the Blackberry Z10 – a touchscreen handset with a neat and stylish design.
The phone measures 130 X 65.6 X 9 mm which is quite good as it has a large screen. It’s weight of 137.5 grams makes it comfortable to handle and provides a nice feel in the hand. Over at the front, you get a 4.2 inches LCD capacitive display which has a resolution of 768 X 1280 pixels which equates into a pixel density of 355 ppi. The screen is bright and sharp, and is equally good as the iPhone 5’s Retina display or S3’s AMOLED display. The Blackberry Z10 also packs in good processing power thanks to the dual-core Snapdragon processor with two cores clocked at 1.5 GHz. You also get an Adreno 225 graphics processor, 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of onboard storage on the internal chipset. The hardware performs exceedingly well providing a brilliant user experience while multi-tasking, gaming, web browsing, etc.
Blackberry Z10 ships out with a 8 megapixel primary camera which can be used to take amazing shots of up to a maximum resolution of 3264 X 2448 pixels or to record full HD 1080 pixels resolution videos at the rate of 30 frames per second. The front facing camera is of 2 megapixel resolution and it can be used to take self shots or record videos in semi HD resolution of 720 pixels. However, its main purpose is for video calling applications. Other features of the camera include autofocus, LED flash, image stabilization, face detection, smile detection, Time Shift mode and much more. A photo editor app is also present for editing the shots taken with the camera. A 1800 mAh battery powers the phone and is good enough to keep you going for 8-10 hours of regular usage. To cap things off, the Z10 is an excellent, well-built smartphone which should make most customers happy.
