Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082 Review
The Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos is a mid-range smartphone with high-end ambitions. The Galaxy Note-like aesthetic and 5-inch screen gives this phone a premium look. The smartphone comes with plenty of good features, including a faster processor, bigger screen and better camera. Let’s take a detailed look at the Samsung Galaxy Grand.
The Galaxy Grand Duos is available in a white and a blue version. It looks much like a bigger version of Galaxy S3 and a smaller version of Galaxy Note II. The build quality of this phone is impressive. The front of the device includes Home button, speaker grill, level sensors, front camera and obviously the 5-inch screen. On the left hand edge of the phone there is the volume rocker, and the power button is situated on the right edge. A 3.5mm headset plug-in port is at the top of the phone, the Micro USB charging port is at the bottom of the device. The back of the Galaxy Grand includes the 8MP camera, speaker and LED flashlight. Like its predecessors, the Galaxy Grand is made completely with plastic.
The Galaxy Grand features a 5-inch LED screen with the pixel density of 187ppi and resolution of 480×480. The screen is incomparable with that of the Galaxy S4 or Galaxy S3, but is quite good for the price. The colors seem natural, but if you are used to the AMOLED display then you may not like this screen. The display of this device is just good. Considering its price we can say the screen is very good.
The Galaxy Grand Duos is equipped with 8MP rear-facing camera and 2MP front-facing camera. The rear-facing camera offer excellent images with the maximum resolution of 3264×2448 pixels. It can even capture Full HD video. The camera can take shots in many modes. For example, with the brightness mode you can adjust the brightness which allows you to take even better images. Some landscape modes are also present in the phone. Other modes that can be useful are Panorama, Burst and Smile modes. The Panorama mode lets you take the pictures with the angle of 180 degrees.
Powered by a dual-core processor which is clocked at 1.2GHz and 1GB of RAM, the Galaxy Grand is fast enough to offer the user a pleasant experience for daily use. It has 8GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot for external expansion of memory. Compared to its predecessors, the processor is not very powerful, but is really good enough for daily usage. However, it is not a device for intensive gaming.
Samsung has used its own Nature UX Interface on the Galaxy Grand Duos. It is the same interface present in Galaxy Note II and Galaxy SIII. The Duos runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. As per your convenience and preference, you can also add apps and widgets in 7 customizable home screens. The Premium Suite features include Multi Window, Facebook, Contextual Menu and Tag, Youtube, Page Buddy, Sound Balance, Gmail and Lock Ticker.
The 2,100mAh battery of the Galaxy Grand Duos is enough to cover an entire day of intensive use. The standby time of this device is even better. The battery can last for about 1-3 day with regular use.
